For founders building with us
The ForwardShare identity
Everything is AI-generated right now. So we drew it by hand. The work is human, and the brand should look like it.
01 · The premise moved
For a year the forward in ForwardShare meant an arrow. Momentum and direction. Every venture studio’s identity says some version of that, and most of them say it with a gradient.
Jason Franzen’s argument was that forward means idea, not arrow. An idea is what moves a founder forward, and the place ideas actually start is a whiteboard, usually in marker, usually a little crooked. So that’s where the identity starts. Marker strokes, and a three-line forward mark that reads as motion without being an arrow. Icons that look sketched during a conversation rather than rendered after one.
02 · Why by hand, and why now
Most brand systems and most stock imagery are machine-generated now, along with a good share of the copy on the internet.
Hand-drawn is a claim, and the claim is that people made this.
That claim has to be true, so it is. ForwardShare doesn’t publish AI-generated content. The people who wrote what you’re reading on this site are named on it. The Expert Operators on the Network page are real people with real outcomes recorded against them, and you can book a call with any of them.
03 · One house, five doors
Studio, Network, Capital, AchieveOS, MindShare. They’re different doors into one house, and the conversations behind each door aren’t the same. A founder coming in through Studio and an Expert Operator coming in through Network aren’t asking the same questions, and the brand shouldn’t pretend they are.
04 · The name
ForwardShare
One word.
Forward Share Ventures LLC is the legal entity and shows up in legal and investor contexts. One name in public means one entity in search and one entity in the systems that now answer questions about companies, which is worth more than the second word ever was.
05 · What changed alongside it
Forward Achieve
AchieveOS
A platform inside ForwardShare rather than a separate brand. Achieve is what you do. AchieveOS is where you do it.
Insights
MindShare
Around 2015 everybody renamed their blog to Insights and the word stopped meaning anything. What happens in our rooms is several people putting their thinking on one problem at once, which is closer to sharing a mind than publishing a post.
Placement
Expert Operators
The Network stopped selling placement. It sells Expert Operators who take a seat with an outcome attached, and a road into cofounding for the ones who want it.
Fractional
Retired
It describes the fraction of the week somebody is there, which is the least interesting thing about them. We call these people Expert Operators because what matters is the seat and the outcome.
06 · The system behind it
Behind the studio is a set of versioned, executable playbooks across venture, product, and market development. Every run logs what worked and, more usefully, what didn’t. It isn’t for sale. When something built back there proves reusable, it graduates into AchieveOS, which is where our ventures get it.
Worth being straight about the ceiling
The mechanism is built and running. The advantage hasn’t been banked yet, and we won’t claim it has.
07 · Who drew it
The sketches on this page are the actual ones.
08 · Questions we get
It’s a company saying what it is for the first time, after a year of building quietly and describing itself in borrowed language. A new mark, a new palette, new product names, and a new site came with that, so call it what you like. The work underneath didn’t change.
Studio, Network, Capital, AchieveOS and MindShare are different doors into one house, and the conversations behind each door aren’t the same. The colour tells you which room you’re in before you read a word.
We build AI-native ventures, so yes, inside the work. What we don’t do is publish AI-generated content. The words and the marks on this site were made by named people.
The marks, palette and type are in use across this site. For the full system, including the sketches that didn’t ship, get in touch.
MindShare is our hub for sharing the learnings and insights we uncover as we explore new ventures. The MindShare Letter collects the latest findings and delivers them exclusively to your in-box.
